The Tunney Song Tradition Trust is proud to present Where the Linnets Sing 2026, a renewed and expanded edition of the landmark 1993 collection, bringing together 42 tracks and 19 singers from five generations of the extended Tunney family. Welcome to this living archive of family song, in which the birth of the earliest featured singer, Annie Meehan, is separated from the present day by 150 years.

This LP contains 42 tracks; five songs are repeated:
Highland Mary, sung by Brigid Tunney (nee Gallagher) in 1953 and again by her granddaughter Sr Brigid in 1991.
The Lowlands of Holland, sung by Brigid Tunney (nee Gallagher) in 1953 and by her grandson Michael Tunney in 1991.
The Mountain Streams, sung by Paddy in 1955 and sung (alternate verses) by Cathal, John and Paddy in 1991.
As I Roved Out, sung by Maura Hickey in 1991 and by her son Colm in 2026.
Lovely Willie, sung by Sr Brigid in 1991 and by her niece Brigid Gosling (nee Tunney) in 2025.
All the singing is unaccompanied and is solo singing with some exceptions: in the case of the refrain and the last verse of The Green Fields of Canada, John and Paddy sing in unison. On Craigie Hill, Paddy, John and Sr Brigid sing verses in turn, and in the second rendition of The Mountain Streams, Cathal, John and Paddy do likewise. Conall and his cousin Séamus Hickey sing What Brought the Blood half-verse about. Brigid Gosling and her sister Maria sing The Old Man Rocking the Cradle as a duet, and Paddy and his brother Joe do likewise on A Soldier and a Sailor. Finally, Paddy joins his uncle Michael Gallagher on the chorus of The Rollicking Boys of Tandragee.
